22nd April 2018

During the week a Facebook memory from 3 years ago popped up…An ascent of Gold Hill in Shaftesbury (Made famous by the Hovis Advert)

So a plan was hatched to revisit Gold Hill πŸ™‚

Simon met me at 8:15 and off we went..via an uppy, downy route passing through Corsham, Bradford on Avon, Longleat, and stopped for a cuppa at Stourbridge.

After a nice relaxing sit in the Sun, we pressed on to Gillingham, then Shaftesbury, for the main event πŸ™‚

We had planned to stop at “The Salt Cellar”, at the top of the Hill, but it was closed πŸ™ so we went to “King Alfreds Kitchen” on the high street, I stuffed myself with a cream tea πŸ™‚

The ride back was MUCH quicker than the ride down (I suspect a healthy tailwind may have helped!)

I stopped for a well earned Ice Cream on top of Westbury White Horse Hill.

And Half way up Bowden Hill I had a sudden yearning for a pint of Cider πŸ™‚

And it would have been rude not to snap a picture of bike with Blue Bells at the top πŸ™‚

So today’s ride was a healthy 103 miles with a few ups and downs πŸ™‚

Strava session here…

Elapsed Time Moving Time Distance Average Speed Max Speed Elevation Gain
08:21:48 06:47:38 103.17 15.19 40.26 5,918.64
hours hours mi. mph mph ft.

Unfortunately my nice shiny new bike got dirty πŸ™ so before I got cleaned, I cleaned it….It’s now shiny and clean again πŸ™‚
